Ferrari’s first front-engined V8 soft-top convertible, the Roma Spider, won the coveted title of “The Sunday Times Dream Car of the Year” in The Motor Awards 2023 at News UK’s office at London Bridge last night. The Motor Awards are curated by the motoring journalists and editors from News UK’s portfolio of media titles: The Sun, The Sunday Times, Driving.co.uk and Times Luxx.

This timelessly elegant, high-performance car is a contemporary take on the chic, pleasure-seeking Italian lifestyle of the 1950s and 60s. This spider carries over the proportions, volumes and specifications of the Ferrari Roma’s hugely successful V8 2+ concept, but what makes it so striking is the adoption of a soft top, a solution making a welcome return to the Prancing Horse range on a front-engined car 54 years after the 1969 365 GTS4. The Ferrari Roma Spider also features a new, patented wind deflector integrated into the backrest of the rear seat which guarantees exceptional in-car occupant comfort without taking up any space in the car.

Ferrari’s Andrea Militello, Head of Exterior Design (front-engined cars), Ferrari Centro Stile, collected the award and commented: “I’m collecting this award on behalf of the engineers, designers and test-drivers in Maranello who created such an outstanding and innovative Spider interpretation of the highly successful Roma coupe. This award will take pride of place in our trophy cabinet in Maranello, alongside the The Motor Awards which Ferrari also won for the 488 Pista in 2019, and the 296 GTB in 2022.”

The Ferrari Roma Spider, like all Ferrari production sports cars, is provided with a 4-year warranty in the UK, and a 7-year Genuine Maintenance service package that covers all routine maintenance costs for the first 7-years of the vehicle and which is also transferable to subsequent owners.
